MedStar Southern Maryland Awarded for Excellence in Stroke Care

I wouldn't go there if all they are offering is 'care'; NOT RECOVERY!

Anytime I see 'care' in any stroke press release I know the stroke medical world is not willing to disclose actual results because they are so fucking bad, it wouldn't look good, so misdirection is used. Don't fall for that misdirection! By touting 'care' they are not telling you about results or recovery which survivors want! Survivors don't care about your 'care'; you FUCKING BLITHERING IDIOTS; they want 100% recovery! Why aren't you providing that?

Big fucking whoopee.

But you tell us NOTHING ABOUT RESULTS. They remind us they 'care' about us multiple times but never tell us how many 100% recovered.  You have to ask yourself why they are hiding their incompetency by not disclosing recovery results.  ARE THEY THAT FUCKING BAD?

Three measurements will tell me if the stroke medical world is possibly not completely incompetent; DO YOU MEASURE ANYTHING?  I would start cleaning the hospitals by firing the board of directors, you can't let incompetency continue for years at a time.

There is no quality here if you don't measure the right things.

  1. tPA full recovery? Better than 12%?
  2. 30 day deaths? Better than competitors?
  3. rehab full recovery? Better than 10%?

You'll want to know results so call that hospital president(whomever that is) RESULTS are; tPA efficacy, 30 day deaths, 100% recovery. Because there is no point in going to that hospital if they are not willing to publish results.

In my opinion this partnership allows stroke hospitals to continue with their tyranny of low expectations and justify their complete failure to get survivors 100% recovered. Prove me wrong, I dare you in my stroke addled mind. If your stroke hospital goal is not 100% recovery you don't have a functioning stroke hospital.

All you ever get from hospitals are that they are following guidelines; these are way too static to be of any use. With thousands of pieces of stroke research yearly it would take a Ph.D. level research analyst to keep up, create protocols, and train the doctors and therapists in their use.

If your stroke hospital doesn't have that, you don't have a well functioning stroke hospital, you have a dinosaur.

Read up on the 'care' guidelines yourself. Survivors want RECOVERY not 'care'

MedStar Southern Maryland Awarded for Excellence in Stroke Care

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center has been honored with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold quality award. This recognition highlights the hospital’s dedication to delivering the highest standard of stroke care(NOT RECOVERY!) based on the latest, research-driven guidelines.

The Get With The Guidelines – Stroke program is crucial for enhancing stroke treatment in hospitals. It emphasizes consistent adherence to evidence-based guidelines which help reduce the impact of strokes and lower the risk of death. MedStar Southern Maryland earned this prestigious award by demonstrating comprehensive adherence to these guidelines and by educating patients on managing their health post-treatment.

Stephen Michaels, MD, FAAOS, FACHE, president of MedStar Southern Maryland and senior vice president of MedStar Health, expressed pride in the award, stating, “Access to the highest level of stroke care(NOT RECOVERY!) is critical for patients across our community. This award showcases our hospital’s commitment to the latest treatment guidelines for the best outcomes for stroke patients.”

MedStar Southern Maryland is renowned as one of the busiest stroke centers in the region and is designated as a primary stroke center by the Maryland Institute of EMS Systems (MIEMSS). The hospital’s emergency stroke team rapidly administers care(NOT RECOVERY!), utilizing advanced treatments and technologies like thrombolytics, or “clot-busting” drugs, and a range of neurological imaging techniques. This prompt and expert care(NOT RECOVERY!) is vital since the timing of treatment is crucial in mitigating the severe effects of a stroke.

The hospital’s stroke program extends beyond immediate care(NOT RECOVERY!), actively engaging in community outreach. They educate patients, caregivers, and medical professionals about stroke prevention and care(NOT RECOVERY!) through various community events and educational programs.

Chile Ahaghotu, MD, MBA, MHL, FACS, vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at MedStar Southern Maryland, also commented on the hospital’s achievements. “When a stroke occurs, access to quality and timely interventions is critical. I am extremely proud of the work being done in our primary stroke center to ensure that every patient receives the necessary care(NOT RECOVERY!) to stop or reverse the debilitating effects of stroke.”

Additionally, the hospital received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award. This award is part of an initiative focused on providing optimal care(NOT RECOVERY!) to patients with Type 2 diabetes who are at an elevated risk for complications when hospitalized due to stroke.
