stroke rehabilitation at the barbershop

Went to a barbershop this morning to get my hair trimmed.  Upon sitting in the chair I immediately tried to get  my left arm to rest lightly on the arm rest. My spasticity of my pec and bicep pulled it off. The barber covered me up in a smock and I gave up on that and moved to flexing my fingers open and closed. Since it took an hour I had lots of repititions.
Once again, no rest at any time.

  1. You would think that it would be easy to relax and not be so OCD about exercise. And yet, whenever we are idle, we're working at some point of our affected side trying to make our limbs work.

Is stubbornness a requirement for disability?
