I wonder if this would work on riding a bike to keep me upright? It really just monitors your problems so your therapist can devise corrections to your gait.

At the first sight, you could mistake these orange checkered pants for a clown’s piece of apparel. Although they look little funny, but they have some serious functionality stashed inside. A bunch of guys at Virginia Tech have come up with these EPants which can identify individuals with a higher risk of falling. It goes go without saying that these pants will render help to people in the age brackets of 60 +, who are more prone to falls because of weak physical structure. The e-textile pants are embedded with several e-TAGS, which are small printed circuit boards containing microcontrollers, sensors, and communication devices. The researchers have well tested these pants, observing individuals running on treadmill. The sensors fitted in the pant did their job of transmitting data to a Bluetooth e-TAG, which sent the accumulated data to a computer for analysis. This analyzed data helped them in understanding the weak joints which could lead to a fall. I would call it perfect diagnosis tools, helping in understand where lies instability and then alerting the health care facility to do the needful. Don’t be surprised if you spot this in fitness centers and health care units. Via Popsci
