A two year olds understanding of stroke

I'll be the two-year old today and see how soon you get tired of trying to answer the questions.
Why did you get a stroke?
You know how when you get a cut and a scab forms over it. In my case I damaged one of the arteries in my neck, that scabbed over and eventually peeled off. That scab/clot ended up in my brain until it got to an artery small enough where it couldn't get through. That stopped blood from flowing downstream of there. Blood delivers needed oxygen to the brain. Without oxygen, brain cells quickly start dying.
How did the clot get out of there?
I had the clot-busting drug injected into my bloodstream within 90 minutes. That cleared out the main clot.
With only 90 minutes of the problem why did you have problems that continued? Sometimes I don't get my cuts bandaged for hours.
Brain cells do not recover like skin cells.

  1. My "brain problem" is the exact reason my son is so diligent at wearing and suggesting everyone else wears a helmet when doing "dangerous" things like bike, skateboard, scooter riding. He was 2 at the time of my stroke, and he is very concerned with everyone protecting their brains. "You don't want an owee like mama."

  2. I'm 19 months post stroke now and still learning about my right pontine hemorrhage secondary to petrous-dural AV fistula.
