One Drink With Alcohol Immediately Doubles Stroke Risk

I guess I've doubled my stroke risk numerous times. No actual study was listed so you can't tell if the cause and effect was supported.

A study has revealed that after you have your first drink with alcohol, your stroke risk nearly doubles. The study was conducted with 390 stroke patients and followed how much alcohol they consumed prior to them suffering a stroke.
The idea is to see if there was any relation between stroke risk and the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The research was not based on any specific type of alcohol, so it would include beer, wine, and everything else that would include any alcohol.
Just having one drink of alcohol was found to increase your risk of stroke 2 times immediately after consuming the beverage. After 2-hours, the risk of stroke is increased 1.6 times when compared to your risk before having the drink.
What this means is that consuming alcohol can put people in a state of elevated stroke risk for a period of time. The good news is that people who consumer alcohol moderately after a period of 24-hours will actually have a 30% lower risk of stroke when compared to those who drink no alcohol.
The bottom line is that in the short-term, alcohol can increase your risk of stroke, but moderate drinking in the long-term can actually lead to health benefits and a reduced stroke risk.

  1. I didn't know about it. Thank you for this information. I would never mind drinking beverages and alcohol in a party before reading this blog post.
