What is the purpose of life?

This was the topic of discussion tonight at the Socrates Cafe get together. My take was that first of all, you are being biased by assuming that there is a purpose.  I argued that looking over the complete timeline of earth your purpose is meaningless. That was not a popular view, including one woman who went down the people and mentioned what they were known for - me, my stroke advocacy.  I don't need a purpose.
