Goals and goalposts

No one is going to help you with your goals except yourself, not your doctor, therapist, not even Jesus.
My goal is the ability to do whatever I want to do, that has no deadline, it may take 40 years. And I will have fun during those 40 years.
I just had to put this in here;
The song; byBobby Bare
"Dropkick Me Jesus through the goalposts of life" (Unedited Version)

We used to play this on the jukebox when playing poker.

Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them, righteous up rights
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
Make me, oh, make me, Lord, more than I am
Make me a piece in Your master game plan
Free from the earthly temptation below
I've got the will, Lord, if You got the toe
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them, righteous up rights
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
Bring on the brothers who've gone on before
And all of the sisters who've knocked on your door
All the departed, dear, loved ones of mine
Stick 'em up front in the offensive line
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them, righteous up rights
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them, righteous up rights
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
Yeah, dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right

Barb has a great take on goals; Its the deadline that causes us so much grief.

  1. It's all about the "journey" as they say. When I stopped my "official" therapy and started "life therapy"...the deadline became less important. I still have goals and make progress, but it's more about living my best life everyday and less focused on how many reps of what exercise I do. My life is the hardest therapy ever imagined anyway. With a wild 4 year old and a newborn, surviving each day is a lofty goal, and one that HAS to happen! :)

  2. It's about the journey and what you make of it.
