“When something bad happens you have three choices. You can let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.” ~Unknown

I refuse to let this damned stroke destroy me.
A great writeup from Tiny Buddha;
http://tinybuddha.com/blog/how-pain-from-the-past-can-be-a-gift-in-the-present/
I think it goes with this picture.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

and that's by Hunter S. Thompson
but his last words  prior to his suicide at age 67 don't quite show that resolve.
"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun - for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax - This won't hurt."

  1. There was a time in my life when I considered Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to be a guide to living fully and well, so HST has always spoken to me. His last words are truly extraordinary - spare, elegant, true - HST still speaks to me. Thanks for the reminder.
