Social engagement via wine drinking

The group of friends I've fallen in with try to get together a couple of times a month. A new excuse is the wine column by Eric Asimov in the NYTimes.

Each month he selects a type of wine and ask readers to get some and discuss it with others. This month it was Beaujolais, so I brought 3 bottles and 2 other bottles of red for the 7 of us to go with the potluck. The venison strips were delicious, the hosts' fiancee had shot the deer after the host noticed it standing down the trail after coming up for air during a necking session in the deer blind.  We were quite good tonight, only 4 bottles of wine consumed and home by 10:30.
