Stroke After Stroke: A Rower's Pilgrimage by Barbara Polan

I consider this the second book in your required reading after a stroke. It gives a realistic account and work needed to recover. Most other first person stroke recovery books I hate because of all the chest thumping that I was able to recover thru my hard work. Realistically only 10% mostly fully recover and these people are lucky in the size and area of their stroke.

The first book to read is Stronger After Stroke by Peter Levine.

  1. Dean, I am so impressed that you consider my book "required reading." Thanks a million.

  2. I loved it precisely because it wasn't survivor porn and presented a realistic portrayal of stroke recovery.
