This needs to be applied to stroke. A great discussion from Seth Godin
Since we never will be able to prevent all strokes or TBIs we need to be able to address the problems caused by these events. But our stroke associations continue to go down this route because it is easier. Leaders tackle the tough problems. We have NO leaders in stroke.
1. Knowing exactly how neuroplasticity works and make it repeatable upon command. We currently don't know why and how a neuron takes on a neighbors task and drops it's own task. Until we figure that out neuroplasticity is not really that useful.
2. Knowing how to create neurogenesis. And angiogenesis to support the new neurons.
3. Knowing how to direct neurogenesis to the areas needing help.
4. Stem cells - I don't consider this very useful right now, this is basically a moon shot with almost no hope of success.
Resilience would be working on the first three since we will never be able to control factors enough to prevent all stroke and TBIs.
