Life is great. Lots of friends both here in Michigan and back in Minnesota and elsewhere. Completely on my own. Turned 60 this year, trying to figure out how long I have to work yet before I retire. Walking is still mainly swinging the left leg like a log, free-swinging lower leg does not seem like it will ever come back. I'm sure that eventually I will need to get my left knee rebuilt because it snaps and hyperextends. Left hand and fingers seem very unlikely to ever come back. The arm is showing signs of improvement ever since I started driving with the left arm. Biking is not really a priority right now. Running I'm not sure I will ever do again since the foot does not point straight due to spasticity.
I could easily recover whatever deficits I have in motor control if my spasticity was removed.
My cognition is as good as it ever was, I would match it against any stroke medical person in the world. It is only arrogance if you can't back up your knowledge.
10 years and I don't think stroke rehab has improved one iota mainly because no one in charge is listening to me. I bet you are screwed for the next 10 years also.
