National Stroke Association - Think F.A.S.T. Games

And I guess the point being that getting fast to a stroke hospital gets you a 12% chance of full recovery from using tPA. Press releases to a failure of an intervention. This tPA intervention did save my life since I got it in 90 minutes, blowing out the clot, but did not stop the neuronal cascade of death. See my MRI scan of the resulting dead spot in my brain at the bottom of this blog.  I could be completely recovered by now if that cascade of death had been stopped, leaving me with only a small manageable dead spot.  And this problem has been known for 20 years with no attempt at fixing that tPA problem. Incompetence in action, with no consequences to the incompetent persons involved.
Think FAST Games
When you’re gathered with your family this holiday season, educate your loved ones using the simple acronym FAST that helps you remember the signs of stroke. Better yet, play our Think FAST Games where you can learn all about the FAST system in our fun games. Study the FAST system and then play four games, challenging each other to see who scores the highest.
To get you started, here’s a review of what FAST means:
  • F = FACE: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
  • A = ARMS: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
  • S = SPEECH: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred?
  • T = TIME: If you observe any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Knowing the early signs of stroke can save a loved one’s life. Talk about it this holiday season.
