This study is testing whether the drug Epanova® (omega-3 fatty acids) can help reduce the risk of serious heart problems. High triglycerides (a type of fat found in the blood), low HDL (“good”) cholesterol, and certain other factors can raise your risk of heart problems. Some patients take cholesterol-lowering drugs, called statins, however some of these patients may still be at risk. Epanova® is already FDA-approved to treat patients with severely high triglycerides, and the hope is that this drug will also be effective in patients with moderately high triglycerides.
