Medical City McKinney awarded stroke rehab certification - McKinney, TX

You'll notice that nowhere in here do they refer to RESULTS. High level of care means absolutely nothing. We don't give a shit about care, care and service doesn't solve any of the problems in stroke  or get you to 100% recovery. Call that hospital CEO(

Ernest C. Lynch III

general number  (972) 547-8000)  and demand to know what the RESULTS are; tPA efficacy, 30 day deaths, 100% recovery.
Big f*cking whoopee.
You can check out Joint Commission standards here:
I saw absolutely nothing about what should be done the first week or anything about measuring 30-day deaths and 100% recovery.  God, these people are worse than worthless. Complacent good-for-nothings.

The puffery article here:

Medical City McKinney (formerly Medical Center of McKinney) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Stoke Rehabilitation Certification.
The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
Medical City McKinney underwent a rigorous onsite review earlier this fall. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards(not result standards) as well as with stroke rehabilitation specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed.
"We are pleased to receive Stroke Rehabilitation Care Certification from The Joint Commission,” said Ernest C. Lynch III, CEO of Medical City McKinney. “Our inpatient rehab team is dedicated to ensuring our patients are provided the care they need to return to an independent lifestyle.”
Established in 2002 and awarded for a 2-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:
  • Compliance with consensus-based national standards
  • Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care
  • An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities
"Medical City McKinney has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients with stroke rehabilitation,” said Patrick Phelan, interim executive director, Hospital Business Development, The Joint Commission. “We commend Medical City McKinney for becoming a leader in stroke rehabilitation, potentially providing a higher standard of service for stroke rehab patients in its community.”
Medical City McKinney is a 260-bed, acute care hospital that offers comprehensive services including a Level III trauma center, cardiovascular, neurological services, general surgery, orthopedics, women’s services, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and psychiatric services.
