Rehabilitation Institute of the Caribbean is pleased to announce
Rehabilitation Now Forum, an academic and informative lecture series on
the role of rehabilitation in the treatment of common physical ailments.
In its inaugural lecture scheduled for July 20, 2017 at 5:30pm, our distinguished speakers include US-board certified physiatrist (rehabilitation medical doctor) Dr. Paula Dawson and our team of stroke rehabilitation experts will share with attendees the team approach to stroke rehabilitation which can result in better outcomes for stroke patients.
Our stroke rehabilitation team will explain how they identify and treat the functional problems caused by a stroke in an effort to assist stroke patients to regain maximum recovery and in many cases, independence in regular, everyday activities.
According to the most recent data from the World Health Organisation, stroke is ranked as the leading non-communicable disease in Jamaica accounting for the death of over three thousand Jamaicans. However, studies have shown that victims tend to recover sooner when they benefit from a multidisciplinary, stroke rehabilitation program and strong family support. A secondary objective of this forum is to provide useful advice to family members as they offer emotional and psychological support to the stroke patients.
This public lecture will be held at the Rehabilitation Institute of the Caribbean located at Suites 2A-C, Liguanea Post Mall, 115 Hope Road, Kingston 6. Admission is free with R.S.V.P. by July 15.
