Benefits Of Sex: Being Active In Bed Staves Off Parkinson's Symptoms

The U.S. is expected to see nearly one million people living with Parkinson's disease by 2020. The Parkinson's Foundation estimates that up to 60,000 Americans are being diagnosed with the condition annually, with men covering most of the patients.
Men have 1.5 times higher risk of developing Parkinson's disease compared to women. But there are ways that could help them lower chances of disability because of the condition.
A new study, published in the European Journal of Neurology, suggests that having an active sexual life could help men reduce the effects of early Parkinson's disease. Researchers also found sex could lead to better quality of life.
The findings come from the analysis of the conditions of 355 patients who participated in the Parkinson Disease Non Motor Symptoms study. The researchers followed each participant for two years and observed how their sexual activities helped in the development of Parkinson's.
