Psychometric properties of meaningful activity participation assessment (MAPA) in chronic stroke survivors

What ever the hell good this jargon filled research is good for is unknown to me.  What are the protocols that lead to life satisfaction, that is what is needed, not this measurement crapola.

Abstract:

Study assessed the psychometric properties of the Meaningful Activity Participation Assessment (MAPA), a tool for assessing both objective and subjective aspects of participation, in chronic stroke survivors. One hundred seven chronic stroke survivors were evaluated. In addition to the MAPA, they were assessed by the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Center for Epidemiologic Studies of Depression Scale (CES-D), Life Satisfaction Index-Z (LSI-Z), Purpose in Life Test-Short Form (PIL-SF), and 36-Item Short-Form Survey (SF-36). To investigate test-retest reliability, 37 participants were reassessed by MAPA after two weeks. Reliability, construct validity, and known-groups validity for the MAPA were evaluated. Results showed an acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.79) and good test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.92) of MAPA. A significant moderate-to-high correlation was found between the MAPA and the PIL-SF, CES-D, LSI-Z, SWLS, and different subscales of SF-36 (Spearman’s correlation coefficient = 0.32–0.65). The MAPA showed good ability to differentiate between young adults (age≤ 65 years) and older adults (age> 65 years) with chronic stroke as well as between chronic stroke survivors with different levels of disability. The authors conclude that the MAPA has appropriate reliability and validity in chronic stroke survivors and suggest that it be used in research and clinical settings.
