Sex, Sexuality and Relationships with a Neurological Diagnosis

This doesn't seem that it will provide the answer to how much sex you need to be having to recover post stroke. You'll be on your own discovering that. We don't need discussion, we need protocols. DAMN IT ALL: solve the correct problem.

All this is why you need to be doing lots of sex, why the hell can't your doctor get you fucking again? In fact you should be doing it in the hospital.

Sex, Sexuality and Relationships with a Neurological Diagnosis

About this event

Relationships are a very important and intimate part of life. Sexual activity is both important and completely natural. Despite this, sex is a topic that people often feel embarrassed to talk about, as it is a very personal and sensitive aspect of our lives. We have 6 presenters who will discuss either the difficulties &/or barriers to opening up such discussions (from the perspective of staff and patients) &/or share their experience of helping patients with a neurological diagnosis and their loved ones tackle issues concerning sex, sexuality and intimate relationships. This will hopefully evoke an interactive discussion between presenters and audience.

Presenters include:

Dr Kate Allatt (D Litt); International Published Author: "Running Free:Breaking Out Of Locked In Syndrome"

Colette Haslam; CNS in Uro-neurology and Prof Jalesh Panicker; Consultant Uro-Neurologist

Dr Camille Julien, Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dearbhla Dempsey, Specialist Occupational Therapist

Dr Nick Behn; Division of Language and Communication Science, School of Health Sciences, City, University of London, UK

Chris Vincent; Couple psychotherapist and researcher in private practice; Visiting lecturer at The Tavistock Clinic and Tavistock Relationships, London.

Limited spaces at Basement Lecture Theatre, 33 Queen Square, London WC1N 3BG and virtually via Zoom.
