Ice storm Michigan

We had freezing rain two nights ago, it put about 3/8ths inch ice on the exposed surfaces.

Yesterday when walking in the woods the temps hit mid 30's which meant it was raining a lot with copious amounts of ice falling from the trees, looking like snow falling.

Tried out my new winter boots; Baffin Yolos. They have an easy one handed pull lacing system. I only need to hook one of my left hand fingers into the top loop while I slide down the lock mechanism with my good hand. Much better than my other winter boots with velcro straps. And no extra wool socks needed, always hated the sloppy feel of Sorel boots. Got cord locks from Amazon here, will be converting my hiking boots to this system with parachute cord.

Fairly small, no waffle stomper tread that picks up snow and mud and carries it into the house

.

About 1 inch deep of fallen ice from tree branches

Beautiful looking trails, warm enough not to be slippery

I had to clear a few of these from the trail, luckily the only big tree down was off the trail.

The pant legs cover the tops of the boots, will need to get gaiters yet for deep snow. Notice the spasticity of the left arm preventing it from hanging straight and out of the picture.
