Saw it swimming in the ditch while walking today. Went under for a while with just its nose sticking out to breath. Then submerged completely and stayed under for at least three minutes. I left so it could surface and keep going. I get about 6-7,000 steps daily in 1-2 hours now because huge portions are under water.
These solitary reptiles spend much of their time in the water—even capable of holding their breath for 40 to 50 minutes.
