Haywood Regional Medical Center heralded for top-notch stroke care

This is the whole problem in stroke enumerated in one word; 'care'; NOT RECOVERY!

Our non-existent stroke leadership should be demanding RECOVERY NOT 'CARE'!

My god, anyone in the business world would be fired immediately for managing or caring about something rather than delivering RESULTS. And this is why this is a complete fucking failure! This does nothing to guarantee recovery for survivors!

If your hospital is touting 'care' it means they are a failure because they are delivering 'care'; NOT RECOVERY! I would never go to a failed hospital! Anytime I see the word 'care' associated with a stroke hospital; I immediately think fucking failure!

YOU have to get involved and change this failure mindset of 'care' to 100% RECOVERY! Survivors want RECOVERY, NOT 'CARE'!

I see nothing here that states going for 100% recovery! You need to create EXACT PROTOCOLS FOR THAT!

ASK SURVIVORS WHAT THEY WANT, THEY'LL NEVER RESPOND 'CARE'! This tyranny of low expectations has to be completely rooted out of any stroke conversation! I wouldn't go there because of such incompetency as not having 100% recovery protocols!

RECOVERY IS THE ONLY GOAL IN STROKE!

GET THERE!

Haywood Regional Medical Center heralded for top-notch stroke care

Haywood Regional Medical Center has earned top marks for its treatment and care(NOT RECOVERY!) of stroke patients from the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark.

“Stroke care(NOT RECOVERY!) is complex and time-sensitive, requiring seamless teamwork at every step. This certification validates the systems and practices our team has put in place to provide the safest, most effective care(NOT RECOVERY!) for our patients and families,” said HRMC’s chief nursing officer LaCrystal Gordon.

Primary Stroke Center Certification recognizes hospitals that meet the highest national standards for stroke care(NOT RECOVERY!). It affirms that evidence-based, around-the-clock treatment is provided and that systems are in place to deliver rapid, coordinated care(NOT RECOVERY!) when every minute matters.

For HRMC, that means patients arriving in the emergency department are evaluated and treated through streamlined stroke protocols, ensuring timely diagnosis and intervention.

The certification followed a rigorous onsite review in which Joint Commission surveyors evaluated the hospital’s compliance with national standards. The visit included direct observations and interviews with staff across multiple departments.

Preparation for the review drew on collaboration across the hospital, with leaders and staff from emergency care, nursing, clinical education, patient safety, and other areas working together. Their efforts focused on strengthening policies, providing training, and putting systems in place to meet national benchmarks. That work also emphasized tracking outcomes and care(NOT RECOVERY!) processes to ensure improvements are sustained through ongoing monitoring and staff education.

“Earning this certification reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and staff who are committed to delivering timely, high-quality stroke care(NOT RECOVERY!),” said HRMC’s CEO Sue Shugart. “It affirms that patients in Haywood County can receive nationally recognized stroke services close to home.”

Someone in the United States experiences a stroke every 40 seconds. Recognizing the signs of stroke early can save lives. Use the BE FAST method to check for stroke symptoms:

E – Eyes: Sudden blurred or double vision or loss of vision in one or both eyes

F – Face: Facial drooping or uneven smile

A – Arms: Arm weakness or numbness

S – Speech: Slurred or difficult speech

T – Time: Time to call 911 immediately if any of these symptoms are present
