A Florida jury awarded nearly $71 million to a single mother whose stroke was allegedly missed by a free-standing emergency department. Chiaka Stewart said she had the worst headache of her life, and had recently gone back on birth control -- a risk factor for stroke -- but wasn't given a CT scan and eventually discharged, only to have a stroke 2 days later.
