You know what would really help to keep a positive after a stroke?
Less dead and damaged neurons because your doctors have stopped the neuronal cascade of death. This just puts all the responsibility for getting better after a stroke on the survivor. Its called blaming the victim. Stop that!

I don't think it's blaming the survivor. Attitude is something we are all individually responsible for, and being accountable for maintaining a positive attitude even under a crappy circumstance will yield a better recovery. There is a lot of research on this. Yes, I agree, the medical community is failing in terms of stroke prevention, treatment, and rehab....but maintaining a positive attitude is the survivor's job, responsibility, and best interest!
