Fixed mindset vs, growth mindset

This is the premise of the book, 'Mindset, the New Psychology of Success' by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
You believe that your talents and abilities are set in stone - Fixed.
Or,  talents can be developed and great abilities are built over time - Growth.  Which leads to optimism or pessimism. A great research project for a graduate student to determine which mindset recovers better, and how to  change the mindsets of survivors. But your doctor will not do anything about your mental recovery needs other than send you to a psychologist or maybe give you anti-depressants.  What you need more than anything is hope and motivation. Your doctor will provide neither.
