You'll notice that nowhere in here do they refer to RESULTS.  We don't give a shit about care, care and outreach doesn't solve any of the problems in stroke. Call that hospital CEO(Vicki A. Darnell, CEO) and demand to know what the RESULTS are; tPA efficacy, 30 day deaths, 100% recovery.

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center earns stroke care award
The UK HealthCare/Norton Healthcare Stroke Care Network recently presented Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) with the 2014 "Pioneer Award" for its work in improving stroke prevention and care for its patients.
As an affiliate in the Stroke Care Network, EMRMC has access to UK HealthCare's expertise and resources to best ensure their hospital offers "the best care for stroke" for their citizens.
At the Stroke Care Network's annual summit in Lexington on June 27, Dr. Michael Dobbs, MHCM, director of the Stroke Care Network, commended EMRMC for their community stroke outreach, particularly in the area of prevention education and follow-up.
"EMRMC's commitment to quality improvement and coordination of resources to provide their patients with the highest quality stroke care is to be commended," Dr. Dobbs said. "Everyone's goal is to provide the best care for stroke patients as close to home as possible and EMRMC's efforts embody that principle."
The Stroke Care Network's director of education and quality, Lisa Bellamy, R.N., CPHQ, notes that EMRMC has made enormous strides in community education related to stroke prevention, recognition and treatment.
"EMRMC already had a well-established community outreach program, but when they joined the Network they enhanced their current process with the Network's Stroke Community, Outreach, Prevention and Education (SCOPE) program. The SCOPE program offers three approaches to educate citizens about stroke, stroke screenings, adult lectures and a pediatric program, The Brain Protector program," said Bellamy.
"EMRMC has demonstrated a strong commitment to their community through affording dedicated resources to their outreach program. They are a "Pioneer" in this area, not only because of the sheer volume of outreach they do, but because they also 'close the loop' with participants who have an abnormal finding during their stroke screening. Their process can include follow-up with a physician and/or monitoring for subsequent emergency room visits," Bellamy added.
In January 2014, UK HealthCare was designated a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. UK HealthCare was the 66th U.S. institution and the only one in Lexington to be awarded this designation, which is the highest honor The Joint Commission awards to stroke centers.
