Why publishing negative findings is hard

In the stroke world there seems to be 1000+ failed neuroprotective trials as Dr. Michael Tymianski writes. They should all be well known and easily researchable. But I have not seen one of them and our fucking failures of stroke associations do not seem to know about them either. If you don't know what failed in the past there is no way to use that knowledge to go forward. As a result our researchers are  flailing in the dark wasting time and money.
