This goes back to the problem of what you are comparing your current state to; The day prior to your stroke - Or the first day you woke up post stroke. If I compare my physical condition now to pre-stroke it would be a negative, I can practically do nothing easily that I could do before. If I compare physical self to the day after stroke I'm in perfect health. Mentally I'm in perfect health and probably for that reason alone my quality of life is great. I was forced out of a job that was no longer satisfying and am now doing work I love. I left a marriage that was totally dysfunctional and have made friends with lots of new people in a new location. I have figured out where I'll spend most of my retirement. And I have a challenging project to occupy my time for decades to come.
Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 29,116 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke.DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER, BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
Good for you!!! Conngratulations!! Sounds like you have done very with with the whole making lemonade from lemons. I'm still a work in progress. My fatigue is soooo limiting, it really affects my quality of life still at this point. I try to work with it and not let it consume me, but that is easier said than done, when I am not able to do much of what I want, when I want. Always hoping for a miracle...or I'll take continued gradual....SLOW... improvement.
ReplyDeleteThanks for explaining, Dean. It makes perfect sense.
