I'll be the two-year old today and see how soon you get tired of trying to answer the questions.
Why did you get a stroke?
You know how when you get a cut and a scab forms over it. In my case I damaged one of the arteries in my neck, that scabbed over and eventually peeled off. That scab/clot ended up in my brain until it got to an artery small enough where it couldn't get through. That stopped blood from flowing downstream of there. Blood delivers needed oxygen to the brain. Without oxygen, brain cells quickly start dying.
How did the clot get out of there?
I had the clot-busting drug injected into my bloodstream within 90 minutes. That cleared out the main clot.
With only 90 minutes of the problem why did you have problems that continued? Sometimes I don't get my cuts bandaged for hours.
Brain cells do not recover like skin cells.
Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 28,983 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke.DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER, BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
My "brain problem" is the exact reason my son is so diligent at wearing and suggesting everyone else wears a helmet when doing "dangerous" things like bike, skateboard, scooter riding. He was 2 at the time of my stroke, and he is very concerned with everyone protecting their brains. "You don't want an owee like mama."
ReplyDeleteI'm 19 months post stroke now and still learning about my right pontine hemorrhage secondary to petrous-dural AV fistula.
