Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Healthy Habits of People Who’ve Aged Gracefully

But what about this way of aging?

I'm doing the Hunter S. Thompson thing;
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

Healthy Habits of People Who’ve Aged Gracefully

They Have Good Dental Hygiene Habits(I try)

Find a Job You Love(I love retirement)

Drink Plenty of Water(Yep, in coffee wine and beer.)

Love Openly and Honestly(If it ever happens again.)

Wear Less Makeup(Can't get any less, not like the Eygptians or early British.)

Wear Sunscreen(Damn hard to put on on my good side, so I just wear long sleeve shirts.)

Maintain Your Social Life(Alcohol is doing just fine in that regard.)

Don’t Smoke (Or Quit If You’ve Already Started)

Smile More(People I just met comment on how happy and smiling I am.)

Eat a Plant-Based Diet(Maybe, new research o meat is not so bad )

Practice Mindfulness(Can't do this, can't get my mind to stop thinking.)

Appreciate Your Surroundings(I'm here, so yes.)

Drink Less Alcohol(Won't occur, it is going to prevent dementia.)

Don’t Be Afraid to Express Yourself(You do notice my frequent use of f-bombs?)

Get a Dog(Nope, would interfere with travel.)

Get Enough Exercise(Is two hours a day walking enough?)

Express Gratitude

Reduce Your Screen Time

Be Charitable

Go Outside

Eat Less Sugar

Exfoliate Your Skin

Up Your Oils

Get More Beauty Sleep(Doing better now I'm retired.)

Don’t Be Picky

Use a Humidifier

Increase Your Vitamin C Intake

Don’t Neglect Your Neck

Laugh it out(I'm now the one who makes smart alec remarks and jokes at our wine tastings.)

Write Regularly(Does 10-25 blog posts a day count?)

Spend Time With Other Generations(We are traveling to London with 80 year olds. Does that count?)

Always Keep Traveling(Not a problem; Portugal/Spain last October; Ecuador in January; Italy in February; London in March; Canada in July and August; London again this October; either Ecuador, Panama or Mexico in January; Vienna and northern Italy next April.)

Get A Yearly Medical Exam(Well, I'm a guy, this might require my women friends to nag me.)

Get Organized(The kitchen table is down to only one layer of paper, was 4 inches deep.)

Be Safe When Intimate(When I get there again.)

Maintain Good Posture(Well, something to work on.)

Talk To A Therapist(You kidding? Last time I talked to a therapist I spent the whole time analyzing the questions she was asking. This is what friends are for, and I have lots.)

Keep An Eye On Your Blood Pressure(Yep, found out my high blood pressure due to blood donations. Currently at two gallons, all post stroke.)
