Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Saint Joseph’s Hospital earns national recognition for delivery of critical stroke care -Lexington, Kentucky

You'll notice that nowhere in here do they refer to RESULTS.  We don't give a shit about care, care and culture doesn't solve any of the problems in stroke. Call that hospital CEO(Bruce Tassin)general number (859.313.1000)  and demand to know what the RESULTS are; tPA efficacy, 30 day deaths, 100% recovery.
Double Big f*cking whoopee.
You can check out Joint Commission standards here:
I saw absolutely nothing about what should be done the first week or anything about measuring 30-day deaths and 100% recovery.  God, these people are worse than worthless. Complacent good-for-nothings.

The puffery article here: They went for two certs, still nothing on results.

Saint Joseph Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification.
Saint Joseph Hospital was recognized after The Joint Commission experts evaluated the center’s compliance with stroke-related standards and requirements, including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement.

“We are honored to be recognized for our excellence in stroke care(Not Results?),” said David Blake, MD, stroke medical director and neurologist at Saint Joseph Hospital. “With this certification, we are able to highlight that we make acute stroke care a priority and we provide faster care with aggressive treatment options aimed at better recovery and better outcomes for our patients. Recognition such as this demonstrates our commitment to the best standard of care to treat stroke patients, enabling improved outcomes and improved return to work.”
Stroke is the number five cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability in the United States, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. On average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds; someone dies of a stroke every four minutes; and 795,000 people suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year.
“Saint Joseph Hospital has demonstrated an exceptional level of commitment to the care(???) of stroke patients by achieving Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers,” said Wendi Roberts, RN, executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “We commend Saint Joseph Hospital for being a leader in the identification, intervention and treatment of stroke care for patients. Certified primary stroke centers consistently set a higher standard of care for stroke patients in their communities.”
Established in 2003, Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers is awarded for a two-year period to Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals. The certification was derived from the Brain Attack Coalition’s “Recommendations for the Establishment of Primary Stroke Centers” (JAMA, 2000) and the “Revised and Updated Recommendations for the Establishment of Primary Stroke Centers” (Stroke, 2011).
“We congratulate Saint Joseph Hospital for achieving this designation,” said Nancy Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. “By adhering to this very specific set of treatment guidelines Saint Joseph Hospital has clearly made it a priority to deliver high quality care(???) to all patients affected by stroke.”
Neurology and neurosurgical care at Saint Joseph Hospital is provided by more than 30 neurologists, epileptologists, neuro-interventionalists, neurosurgeons, radiologists and emergency physicians.
