The central sulcus is a valley in the outer folds of the brain's cerebral cortex. No
axons cross the gap. But just below the central sulcus, the primary
somatosensory cortex and the primary motor cortex are physically
adjacent to each other, and are connected by short association fibres (SAF) from pyramidal neurons.
