The 124 acre natural area next to me should have morels. Spent 3 hours slogging thru mud and pools of water in my Wellies and wandering off the trails. No luck. Did get in my 10,000 steps for the day by 3pm, necessary since there is a wine party last night and I may not be in shape to get more walking in after that.
The only fungi I found. Pheasant tail mushrooms and saddle mushroom are two other common names. Dryad's saddle (Cerioporus squamosus, formerly known as Polyporus squamosus).
A shortcut across a ditch. In my better days I would have run across that log. Right now I still don't have enough sure-footedness to attempt this. But it is looking more likely every time I walk by it. I will need to train by walking railroad tracks.
