Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Get With The Guidelines(r) Stroke Data Challenge offers $25k grand prize

So rather than focusing on what survivors want; 100% RECOVERY; we get crapola like this!

Get With The Guidelines(r) Stroke Data Challenge offers $25k grand prize

(NewMediaWire) - February 08, 2023 - DALLAS The American Heart Association, the world's leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, is inviting researchers to apply to work with a novel linked dataset to address social determinants of health and the resulting impact on stroke care. Participants have the chance to win up to $25,000.

Announced during the International Stroke Conference 2023, the Get With The Guidelines(R) Stroke Data Challenge will encourage cross collaboration among researchers to better understand the impact of health disparities and social and structural determinants of health on the care of patients experiencing stroke. Challenge participants will consider a targeted research question related to stroke and social and structural determinants of health and submit a proposal.

"The American Heart Association is dedicated to improving stroke outcomes and reducing healthcare inequality, and this challenge seeks to advance our understanding of how social and structural determinants of heath influence stroke presentation, care quality and clinical outcomes," said Steven Messe, M.D., American Heart Association volunteer, chair of the Association's Stroke Systems of Care Advisory Group and professor of neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. "We encourage all interested investigators physicians, statisticians, data scientists, epidemiologists, students and others to submit their innovative proposals."

Accepted research proposals will analyze a Get With the Guidelines - Stroke registry inpatient dataset linked with specific county-level health metrics. The dataset has been developed in collaboration with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington . Each challenge participant will receive a no-cost workspace on the Association's Precision Medicine Platform to conduct analyses.

The Precision Medicine Platform is an easy-to-use, web-based interface that enables researchers to access their own secure, cloud-computing workspace to conduct analyses. The workspace contains a variety of standard software and packages and allows users to create notebooks to document and display results.

The challenge includes a $25,000 cash award for the grand prize, $15,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place. Awardees are required to publish a manuscript detailing the winning solutions. Register and submit your proposal for the challenge online by March 31, 2023, at 5 pm CT. This Get With The Guidelines Stroke Data Challenge is funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

Get With The Guidelines is a proven in-hospital approach to improving patient outcomes across cardiovascular and stroke focus areas. Each Get With The Guidelines program promotes consistent adherence to the latest research-driven American Heart Association scientific guidelines and measurement, while providing data and information to professionals for continual improvement in patient care.

Since 1949, the American Heart Association has invested more than $5 billion in research that include breakthroughs in cardiovascular and stroke discovery, translation and clinical application. As the largest nonprofit, non-governmental funder of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular research in the U.S., this achievement can be measured in longer, healthier lives for untold individuals and families around the world.
