Objective:To evaluate the effects of fluoxetine on central post-stroke pain (CPSP). Methods:The patients with CPSP were randomly divided into fluoxetine group and doxepin group. Pain intensity was assessed with visual analogue scale (VAS). Other factors associated with symptoms were also investigated. Results: The VAS values were decreased after treatment in both groups. The incidence of side-effect in fluoxetine-treated group was significantly lower that in doxepin-treated group. Conclusion: Fluoxetine, which has similar effectiveness with doxepin, is a good choice to relieve CPSP with less side effects.
