This email encompasses all what is wrong with our stroke associations;
No strategic plan, just a scattershot approach. The extremely simple answer is to create a National Stroke Plan like the
National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease
or
H.R. 1098, the Traumatic Brain Injury Reauthorization (TBI) Act of 2013.
By creating a strategic plan all these activities lead to one result, lower death and disability due to stroke.
But no, we get this crap;

Dear dean,
We wanted to remind you that the Virtual
Lobby Days event ends today. If you haven’t already, please take the time
now to contact your members of Congress about stroke-related legislation that
is important to the stroke community. Join
thousands of Stroke Advocacy Network members—people concerned about the
impact of stroke, just like you—to ask
Congress to:
- Repeal
the caps on Medicare outpatient therapy services;
- Help
stroke survivors return to work;
- Ease
the financial burden on caregivers;
- Support
funding for stroke-related medical research;
- Expand
access to specialized stroke care under the Medicare program; and
- Learn
more about stroke and become a stroke advocate on Capitol Hill.
As a member of the
Stroke Advocacy Network, we know you’re
one of the strongest advocates in the stroke community. Thank you for your
efforts thus far, and for responding to this call to action before it’s too
late!
Sincerely,
Advocacy Staff
