Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

New report captures insights on National Alzheimer's Plan

Once again I have to point out the good job the Alzheimers Association is doing. So Mr. Baranski, National Stroke Association;
Dr. Tomaselli(American Stroke Association);
Bo Norrving(World Stroke Organization). What are
you doing to get something similar for stroke rehabilitation? You don't even have to spend much time putting together a plan. Just ask the Alzheimers Association if you can reuse theirs and replace Alzheimers with Stroke. Survivors copy this and send it to your countries stroke association.

Alzheimer’s from the Frontlines: Challenges a National Alzheimer’s Plan Must Address
is a collective effort by thousands of Americans to share the real and unrelenting struggles they face dealing with the disease that must be addressed in the National Alzheimer’s Plan now being created through the implementation of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA).

Building on a commitment to provide a platform for those directly affected by Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association and its more than 70 Chapters nationwide hosted over 130 public input sessions, a NAPA web site, and a national Telephone Town Hall to learn what Americans need in a bold and transformational plan. From their input, 10 major challenges emerged:

  1. A lack of public awareness (so true, we need a spokesperson)
  2. Insufficient research funding(If Alzheimers is insufficient then so is stroke)
  3. Difficulties with diagnosis (there is no diagnosis of stroke damage)
  4. Poor dementia care(Care for brain injuries is difficult)
  5. Inadequate treatments (non-existent treatments)
  6. Specific challenges facing diverse communities (Latino and blacks)
  7. Specific challenges facing those with younger-onset Alzheimer’s (incorrectly not diagnosing stroke in younger patients)
  8. Unprepared caregivers(how true)
  9. Ill-equipped communities(how true)
  10. Mounting costs(how true)
