Another email from the National Stroke Association.
I agree with the advocacy part but first we need to advocate what survivors want, which is to have the
NSA focus on survivor needs rather than doctor payment needs. My focus would be on coming up with stroke protocols and research that would stop the neuronal cascade of death. NSA - please contact me, you'll get an earful - Are you for survivors or not?

Dear dean,
Want to help improve the lives of stroke survivors and caregivers
across the country and in your state? Join National Stroke Association for a
new webinar called Don’t
Let Policymakers Call All the Shots—Call Some Yourself on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from
1:30 to 2:30 p.m. EST. This online training will teach
you how you can make a difference for the entire stroke community from the
comfort of your own home or community.
This webinar is designed to inform stroke advocates, like you,
about what to expect in Congress and in state legislatures in 2013. More
importantly, we’ll show you how to influence your legislators and the decisions
they make about stroke-related issues. We’ll also look at election trends and
the issues involved in the lame-duck session of Congress (if it’s still in
progress on the date of the webinar). By the end of this webinar, you’ll be
able to develop your own step-by-step calendar of advocacy activities in the
new year. Don’t just talk about what
stroke survivors and caregivers need—learn how to make those changes a reality! (Then listen to survivors!!! like me)
Advocate for the 7 million stroke survivors living in the U.S. in
2013. Register today and join us on Dec. 4 to learn how!
Regards,
Coral Cosway
Director, Policy Advocacy
National Stroke Association
