The only way this should be celebrated is by pointing out all the
f*cking failures and problems in stroke. This awareness campaign is just a way to look like you're doing something rather than actually solving stroke problems. But until the boards of directors change their instructions to the leaders this won't change. I can only make an assumption that that they really have no intention of helping survivors.

Dear Dean,
This Wednesday, October 29 is World Stroke Day, a campaign
established by the World Stroke Organization in 2006. Stand with us throughout
the week, as we raise awareness about the 2 nd leading cause of death
in the world. Remember, stroke does not discriminate—it can happen to anyone,
at any age, and at any time. Arm yourself and your loved ones with knowledge
about stroke and how to prevent this devastating disease.
Over the next 5 days, help us spread awareness about stroke
in these simple ways:
- Change your social media profile picture and
Facebook cover photo to honor World Stroke Day. Encourage your friends and
family to do the same!
- Watch and share our new two-part animated video
series Stroke: The REALITY—learn about stroke’s devastating impact and how to
reduce your risk.
- Share our World Stroke Day infographic.
- Learn FAST to quickly recognize signs and
symptoms of stroke:
Thank you for being our partner and helping raise awareness about stroke. Happy World Stroke Day 2014!
In health,
Anna Taylor
