Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Blessing Health System(Quincy, Illinois) stroke center gains national recognition

Big fucking whoopee.

But you tell us NOTHING ABOUT RESULTS. They remind us they manage the patient but never tell us how many 100% recovered.

Three measurements will tell me if the stroke hospital is possibly not completely incompetent; DO YOU MEASURE ANYTHING?

  1. tPA full recovery? Better than 12%?
  2. 30 day deaths? Better than competitors?
  3. rehab full recovery? Better than 10%?

You'll want to know results so call that hospital president(Whoever that is) and demand to know what the RESULTS are for; tPA efficacy, 30 day deaths, 100% recovery. Because there is no point in going to that hospital if they are not willing to publish results.

The invalid chest thumping here:

Blessing Health System(Quincy, Illinois) stroke center gains national recognition

Last week, Blessing Health System was nationally recognized for its stroke care.

Blessing received the American Heart Association and the American stroke associations 'Get With the Guidelines' award.

And although Blessings officials said the award is great, they said the need for stroke prevention is greater.

"We tend to see stroke patients roughly 400 times a year," said Dr. Scott Hough.

According to Dr. Scott Hough, that equals nearly one to two patients a day.

Once the patient arrives, the team gets right to work because with a stroke, every second counts.

"What we do is when the patient is determined to have a stroke, we activate the stroke team," said Dr. Hough.

Dr. Hough said the stroke team consists of radiology, labs, nursing staff, and ED physicians.

"We have multiple departments come into the ED to help manage the patient," said Dr. Hough.

So, what exactly is a stroke?

"A stroke is when a clot develops in the blood vessel in the brain. Or there is a burst in the vessel in the brain, which interrupts the oxygen flow," said clinical nurse, Kathy Jochem.

Hough said the second you feel any stroke-like symptoms, it's important that you head straight to the emergency department.

"Once you have a stroke, your time is the brain. Your brain is essentially dying and you can have long-term disabilities or death," said Dr. Hough.

A stroke can cause long-term issues with speech, swallowing, and walking issues.

Doctors said it's important to stay on top of your blood pressure levels.

But if you don't have a monitor at home, you can always stop at stores like Walmart and HyVee.

Your blood pressure should range to be 120 over 80.
