Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Drinking alcohol several times a week increases the risk of stroke mortality

 Really? Are you sure you did your study correctly? I really don't care, there are too many beneficial effects, not least is the social connections and laughter.

8. Cardiac Benefits of Red Wine Not From the Alcohol

9. Can alcohol make men smarter? Study suggests yes  Sorry about the duplicate but important to remember.

10. Two Drinks a Day Reduce Mortality in Male Heart Attack Victims

The negative research here;

Drinking alcohol several times a week increases the risk of stroke mortality

Demand your doctor analyze all this and come up with a specific answer for your alcohol consumption.
I look at alcohol consumption as a great way to increase your difficulty level of walking and balance needs. Why isn't your therapist recommending that?
 Don't follow me because I will probably never listen to another doctor in my life.
I'm going to go out screaming drunk and laughing my head off.

  1. Sitting here with a glass of wine and my husband in our sunny library, I know there's nothing here that's not contributing to my recovery. What I have noticed about my wine/beer consumption is that it affects me very differently than pre-stroke, and it takes inly two glasses for me to feel affected. Pre-stroke, I was a professional.

    1. Sorry Barb, all I could think of was a professional drinker. How do you get a job like that?

    2. Yes, that's what I meant. Past: it was a joke, meaning that I was experienced, and good at it.
