From the Dana Foundation. I still don't know whether we lose myelin as part of our stroke damage or not. Ask your doctors if myelin repair is needed in our white matter after a stroke. A neurologist told me that after 2 years you wouldn't get any recovery because the myelin sheath of the connector neurons would have demyelinated by now. He was blowing smoke out his ass because he was trying to use big words to deflect the question I had asked him about, ' How many stroke survivors go insane because their motor control functions have taken over their executive controls?' It was a damned simple question and yet he had no clue to the answer. After that debacle I pretty much knew there was no point in asking him any further questions, or seeing any stroke doctor ever again.
