Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina has been designated a comprehensive stroke center by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency and can begin receiving urgent stroke patients via ambulance.

The designation means the hospital is a 9-1-1 receiving hospital for patients and has met the standards of the Centers for Medicare & Medical Services.

“The comprehensive stroke center designation at Queen of the Valley Hospital means that critical stroke patients will receive life-saving care more quickly than being diverted to other facilities,” said Emanate Health CEO Robert H. Curry. “When every minute counts, having top-notch care nearby could help minimize physical damage to the brain and shorten rehabilitation times.”

Comprehensive stroke centers offer neurology specialists and neurointerventional physicians, who are available around the clock. The hospital has physicians and specialists who can perform clot-removing procedures, including a thrombectomy, an interventional procedure for removing a blood clot from an artery or vessel.(But what is your 100% recovery rate?
