What to do if your Mom, Dad, relative had a stroke

This is stepping all over your medical team responsibilities, so don't listen to me. Almost none of this will help your survivor but if you can influence your stroke medical team to look at existing and maybe future possibilities then future survivors will be helped. Basically your survivor is screwed, only 10% get to full recovery.
This is what I sent to a friend whose Mom had a stroke. I fully expect if he really pushed this stuff he would be ejected from the hospital. That type of civil disobedience may be the only thing that lights a fire under the stroke medical world. If I have another stroke I will have a screaming match with my doctors and will not back down from calling them incompetent. If a stroke survivor(me) can put together all this information from freely available resources then even disrespected neurologists can do it.
I'm going to give you some advice you should not listen to because I have no medical training.
This may take 50 years to make a difference but will take even longer if we don't start now. Expecting your doctor to do this is an exercise in futility, they haven't done anything in the last 20 years why would they start now?

You need to find out if the doctor is doing anything in the first week.
This post contains everything I would ask my doctor to do; statins, fish oil and leg compressions seem to be something that would have no downside even if they haven't been thru clinical trials.

The questions to ask your doctor are;
How many neurons are dying on a hourly basis that you are implicitly responsible for because you are doing nothing to stop the neuronal cascade of death? If they don't know about the cascade of death, written about in 2009, they should be fired.

And if they give you the statement, 'All strokes are different, all stroke recoveries are different', they are incompetent and lazy.

If you are a complete bastard about your doctor and hospital incompetency someone will need to bail you out of jail. Likely there will be no one that will even consider what I've written about, but that's why everything I write about is backed up by research links. If your doctors were any good they would know and have read everything I point to.
