Jones SA, et al. - Researchers studied longitudinal patterns of moderate to vigorous and domain-specific physical activity and TV watching by retirement status. Study participants were recruited from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis from six U.S. communities and were aged 45–84 years at baseline. A 10% decrease in moderate to vigorous physical activity was linked to retirement and increases in recreational walking, household activity, and TV watching of 13% to 29%. Overall, changes in physical activity and TV watching are related to the transition to retirement.
