Good question, ask him directly. I would suggest instead of the national standards he is proposing he push a National Stroke Plan, similar to the National Alzheimers Plan. That way everything in stroke can be studied - prevention, diagnosis, hyperacute therapy, acute therapy, chronic therapy, cause of death, database of stroke, ambulance care.

Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 29,294 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke. DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
What this blog is for:
My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

WHY????Because it's the WORST idea/ plan ever. Our healthcare system needs reform...but this is not reform...this is a complete disaster in the making. Everyone will suffer the consequences of this disaster for years! I'm glad I'm on the other side of my health crisis. Hopefully I will never be this sick and in need of healthcare ever again. Thanks Obama for the huge increase in premium, and out of pocket maximum.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to disagree with you there Elizabeth. After I lost my job and had to go on COBRA it took 3 out of 4 weekly unemployment checks to cover the monthly costs. We went looking on the private market and all three of us were rejected due to prior conditions; me - stroke 6 years prior; wife - breast cancer 12 years prior, daughter - overweight. It may not be the best buts lets fix it rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
DeleteLets fix the whole preexisting condition thing so long as you have been insured previously. This blanket, lets cover everyone, on someone else's dime is complete bs...and costing me and my family a fortune. Yes we need healthcare reform, not regression....which is exactly what we'll be faced with. Socialized medicine doesn't work, never has. And this plan has no logical financial plan to support it much less the infrastructure to provide care to everyone. We're trying to move forward, but this is certain to be a huge set back in terms of research and "expert, specialists". Fix the preexisting condition component, that is a problem I agree with.
ReplyDeleteSorry Elizabeth, there is nothing in the real definition of socialism that would point to Obamacare being like that. That is just a strawman argument to shut down discussion. I won’t defend socialism. The only way I could see your argument is if you define either the slippery slope fallacy or foot in the door fallacy and the specific steps that lead from Obamacare today to that socialist medicine you refer to. You might want to look to see if your insurance company illegally discontinued your insurance.
