This
study confirms an independent link between high concentrations of
Triglyceride–Rich–Lipoproteins (i.e. the sum of VLDL–C plus IDL–C) and
the risk of carotid atherosclerosis in post–menopausal women aged >60
years. Additionally, it was concluded that the measurement of the level
of Triglyceride–Rich lipoproteins serves as a useful tool for improving
the assessment of the risk of cardiovascular disease in post–menopausal
women.
