Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

While a lot of research is underway to slow down the aging of brain, doctors say that a variety of things could be done in our routine that will slow down this procedure. With more and more awareness about health of brain, doctors are also seeing more and more number of patients coming to take advice on how to keep their brain healthy

As more and more awareness about healthy brain is underway, doctors are also seeing more and more number of patients coming to take advice on how to keep their brain healthy.
Dr N Ichaporia, consulting neurologist at Jehangir Hospital Pune, said, “Patients often come and ask me how to keep our brain young? Nowadays, I see awareness among people to not only keep their body healthy but also their brain healthy.”
While there are still research activities going on in the field of stem cell and other compounds which can be used to stop aging of the brain, doctors say that there is no such short cut yet discovered to stop brain’s aging.
“Four decades ago, Alzheimer’s was a disease which did not exist in India. But now we see a huge surge of Alzheimer’s. Your brain is the most important resource that you have and you should ensure that it remains healthy for a long period of time,” he added.
“The first step in keeping your brain young is never to retire. You may start pursuing some other pursuits, but do not retire. The day you retire, your brain’s deterioration starts. So keep your brain engaged. Keep yourself active in some or the other form of physical activity or exercise. One must need to do lifestyle changes like eating less of processed food, trying to reduce abdominal girth with some physical activity, avoiding exposure to pollution, taking good sleep, ensuring intake of micro-nutrients, alcohol moderation etc.”
There is no shortcut to keep your brain healthy, say experts. According to Dr Kaustubh Joag, consultant psychiatrist from Pune:
  • There is no short cut, like some definitive medicine to stop brain’s aging and only when one takes some active steps that his or her brain’s aging can be prevented.
  • Though there are more symptom based inquiries by patients, nowadays, we do see patients taking advice on how to keep their brain young.
  • There are three important things to ensure that your brain remains healthy — a healthy lifestyle, appropriate nutritional intake and managing your mental stress.
Doctors also stressed that people should engage themselves socially to prevent depression which also affects the aging of brain.
