Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.

What this blog is for:

My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

I’ve permanent cure for stroke – Nigerian researcher

Wow, no details and no research to back the claims up.

I’ve permanent cure for stroke – Nigerian researcher

Frontline Nigerian researcher in phytho-medicine, Dr Ben Amodu, who is recognised internationally for his alternative medicine remedies to various diseases, has said he has a cure for stroke without the need for rehab.

Dr Amodu made this revelation while speaking to newsmen at his African Alternative Medicine Hospital in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja over the weekend.

“Our research is into communicable and non-communicable diseases. Under the non-communicable diseases we deal with hypertension, diabetes, dementia, ataxia, enlarged heart which ailments are all related.

“While doing this work, we stumbled into the research of cures for these ailments, and this natural product we have has the capacity to deal with stroke in the sense that the whole body that has become degenerated will have a very strong stimulant that will make them firm up again.

“And as you can see, it was just a three- day treatment we gave to mama (one of his patients), that led to that massive transformation. So, if we deal with hypertension, diabetes, dementia and ataxia which are all embedded in stroke including high cholesterol and the system is able to be cleaned up and blood flows freely, what do you expect? A person that is gone comes back.

“So Nigeria should take advantage of this, we intend to pursue a partnership with the minister of FCT and create a medical tourism zone in Abuja here, in the aspect of medicine that is yet to be properly understood in the whole world; the herbal medicine.

“While America is working towards making $5trn from now till 2025, Nigeria with all the massive herbs, God has given us and the in-depth research some of us are doing, there is nothing to write home about in terms of generating GDP from herbal medicine for our country and we are willing to partner with government to close up the naira to dollar ratio.

“USA, Canada, Australia, China and India are doing very well in this regard; why can’t we join them, with the treatment of diseases that modern medicine is yet to find cures like stroke, diabetes, hypertension, enlarged heart, cancer, sickle cell anemia, end stage renal disease and the several others which cure here without any surgical procedures?

“There is no cure for heart in the modern medicine; you must open it up. But with us, all you need to do is to take the supplements and the heart is back to normal.”

Expert decries rising cases of stroke in Nigeria

You godamned bastard. Blame the victim rather that acknowledging that YOU are not doing one damn thing to stop the neuronal cascade of death by these 5 causes in the first week.

Expert decries rising cases of stroke in Nigeria

By Davies Iheamnachor, Amarachi Uzoma & Isioma Ananaba EXPERT in the medical field, Prof. Arthur Onwuchekwa, has expressed worries over rise in the cases of hypertension and stroke in the country. Onwuchekwa, who is a lecturer in the Department of Medicine, FacultyNof Clinical Science in the University of Port Harcourt said that the cause of stroke, which is hypertension is preventable. Onwuchekwa expressed this during the 135th Inaugural Lecture of the institution, tagged: ‘A Preventable Disaster Waiting to Happen.’ The Professor stated that stroke is preventable if the people of the nation would maintain a healthy life style. He mentioned too much salt intake, excessive alcohol and poor exercise habit as risk factors that can lead to stroke. Onwuchekwa said: “The prevalence of stroke is high in Nigeria and no age, race or class is spared. There are medical conditions that can be controlled in order to reduce stroke. Hypertension is the commonest cause of stroke. If we reduce hypertension by 10 percent, the mass effect in reduction of stroke will be heart gladdening. “Some kind of life style like excessive intake of salt and alcohol can cause hypertension. Salt and alcohol damage the blood vessels and cell.”

Experts decry lack of data on stroke victims

This is not just in Nigeria, The available information on stroke is appalling all over the world and I don't see the WSO solving that until survivors run the organization.
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=124758:experts-decry-lack-of-data-on-stroke-victims&catid=1:national&Itemid=559
WORRIED by the lack of correct statistics on the number of Nigerians suffering from stroke, experts in the management of the disease have appealed to sufferers to dissuade their minds from the belief that the occurrence of the disease is from their enemies and seek medical intervention as soon as possible.

A group of managers of the disease, under the auspices of Stroke Action Nigeria, said during a stroke awareness workshop in Abuja at the weekend, that part of the challenges facing the management of the disease is that majority of sufferers in Africa, including Nigeria, resolve to what it termed ‘spiritual or diabolical means’ in the treatment of the disease with the strong (though unfounded) belief that the incident of stroke can only be an attack from those who hate them.

The group said though the country cannot boast of a good statistics and accurate data of sufferers, one thing it is sure of is that every Nigerian has a relative or knows somebody who has had a stroke. It added that what this portrays is that there is high incidence of stroke in the country and people are dying on a daily basis as a result of the untreated disease.

The group also lamented that the high cost of autopsy has made majority of deaths in Nigeria un-investigated. This, it noted, directly translates to lack of research, which also hindered advancement in medical breakthroughs.
Consultant Neurosurgeon and Stroke Specialist, Dr. Biodun Ogungbo, said the workshop is geared towards getting stroke ambassadors in every nook and cranny of the country and equipping same on the right knowledge in order to spread the message in Nigeria about the devastating effect of the occurrence of the disease.

Ogungbo also said the workshop is to warn on the danger of stroke, give correct information about the disease in order to know what to do when people have a stroke, get them to a hospital as soon as possible and more importantly, prevent the sickness from happening.

Ogungbo said as devastating as the incidence of stroke is, it is a disease that is actually preventable if people are armed with the knowledge of its risk factors.

His words: “The major thrust of Stroke Ambassadors is for people who know the truth because we need to be able to get into each home with the correct information about stroke.

“They need to stand up and say what causes it and that it is not because someone hates you or is your enemy but because you have been a smoker all your life and you are not taking the necessary precautions. Stroke is an individual thing since the person has not done enough to prevent it.”

Highlighting the risk factors of the disease, Ogungbo said most of them are as a result of the type of lifestyle people choose to live. He said taking little precaution and being mindful of what people eat have a major role to play in the reduction rate of the disease.

He added that sickle cell disease, uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, smoking and obesity are some of the risk factors that can lead to stroke but advised that the situation can be addressed if precautions are taken and medical help is sought in time.

Describing stroke as an individual thing, Ogungbo said hypertension, which is the major lead way to stroke, can be controlled by lifestyle changes, weight loss, regular exercises, eating right and little intake of salt.

He said since hypertension is something that cannot be wished away, people should endeavour to take their drugs until otherwise advised by the doctor. He warned that it is a silent-killer, which might not give any notice before it strikes. This, he said, necessitates regular checks with the doctors.

In her contribution, Chief Executive Officer of Stroke Action Nigeria, Rita Melifonwu, said the focus is to rehabilitate stroke patients and integrate them back into the society. She said stroke is a very huge problem in Nigeria and the country desires committed volunteers and stroke ambassadors.
Melifonwu said the group is in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health in its quest to get stroke education around the country.
