Use the labels in the right column to find what you want. Or you can go thru them one by one, there are only 34,080 posts. Searching is done in the search box in upper left corner. I blog on anything to do with stroke. DO NOT DO ANYTHING SUGGESTED HERE AS I AM NOT MEDICALLY TRAINED, YOUR DOCTOR IS, LISTEN TO THEM. BUT I BET THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET YOU 100% RECOVERED. I DON'T EITHER BUT HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO ANSWER.
Changing stroke rehab and research worldwide now.Time is Brain! trillions and trillions of neurons that DIE each day because there are NO effective hyperacute therapies besides tPA(only 12% effective). I have 523 posts on hyperacute therapy, enough for researchers to spend decades proving them out. These are my personal ideas and blog on stroke rehabilitation and stroke research. Do not attempt any of these without checking with your medical provider. Unless you join me in agitating, when you need these therapies they won't be there.
What this blog is for:
My blog is not to help survivors recover, it is to have the 10 million yearly stroke survivors light fires underneath their doctors, stroke hospitals and stroke researchers to get stroke solved. 100% recovery. The stroke medical world is completely failing at that goal, they don't even have it as a goal. Shortly after getting out of the hospital and getting NO information on the process or protocols of stroke rehabilitation and recovery I started searching on the internet and found that no other survivor received useful information. This is an attempt to cover all stroke rehabilitation information that should be readily available to survivors so they can talk with informed knowledge to their medical staff. It lays out what needs to be done to get stroke survivors closer to 100% recovery. It's quite disgusting that this information is not available from every stroke association and doctors group.

Want to change the world? Be helpful.
A gapingvoid art print. In your stroke world it means helping your doctor, therapists and stroke hospital see how fucking bad they are at getting you to 100% recovery. Nothing is worse than supposedly smart people being willfully blind to their failures. Getting you walking is not a success, getting you running might be a success depending on your marathon or triathlon ability.

Are leaders born or are they made?
It doesn't make one fucking whit of difference because we have NO leaders in our stroke associations.
From GapingVoid Art in case you think a poster might help our stroke leaders do something.

Are leaders born or are they made? It's the age old question.
We won't argue which side wins, but we all must agree that made or born, it starts from within. A drive to make a difference to those around you. A simple idea that many people just don't get.
The position of 'leader' is one of the most powerful positions a person can have.
What motivates the lead? For some people it is about charisma, for others, its thoughts, heroism, talent or these days, a gift of being a stellar communicator.
Regardless, the thing all the greatest leaders have in common is, conviction.
They can lead for good or for evil, but they convince their followers through doing something that they are willing to die for... metaphorically or literally.

Control or resilience - stroke applications
This needs to be applied to stroke. A great discussion from Seth Godin
Since we never will be able to prevent all strokes or TBIs we need to be able to address the problems caused by these events. But our stroke associations continue to go down this route because it is easier. Leaders tackle the tough problems. We have NO leaders in stroke.
1. Knowing exactly how neuroplasticity works and make it repeatable upon command. We currently don't know why and how a neuron takes on a neighbors task and drops it's own task. Until we figure that out neuroplasticity is not really that useful.
2. Knowing how to create neurogenesis. And angiogenesis to support the new neurons.
3. Knowing how to direct neurogenesis to the areas needing help.
4. Stem cells - I don't consider this very useful right now, this is basically a moon shot with almost no hope of success.
Resilience would be working on the first three since we will never be able to control factors enough to prevent all stroke and TBIs.

Anthony Jay once said something like "You can judge a leader by the size of the problems they tackle."

Our stroke associations don't seem to be tackling any problems whatsoever. In fact, my opinion is that they are hiding from stroke survivors. They are afraid to talk to us. CHICKENSHITS!!!
This telling the truth is no way to get them to actually work with us though. I'm looking at you; ASA, NSA, WSO.
